I was watching the most recent Republican debates, and there was a question about foreign aid to Israel.

Ron Paul said he wouldn't send aid to Israel or any other country.

He said, it's up to these countries to create their own wealth, and that America should create its own wealth too.

This spurred a thought, regarding charity.

You could look at the example of 50 Cent, who is looking to send 1 billion meals to Africa.

Some people would criticise that, by saying that this will only temporarily provide food for a relatively small number of Africans, and that this isn't going to solve any long-term problems.

Now, you could look at the Middle East, and the recent Arab Spring. You could say... perhaps this is the way to get things done.

You might look at a country like Russia, and ask, why do they support the corruption and virtual dictatorship of Vladimir Putin?

A lot of people would say... it's because Russians are used to being slaves. And you could say the same with the continent of Africa.

If you look at Zimbabwe under Robert Mugabe, you could say, people put up with hyperinflation, they put up with disease, they put up with starvation.

It's incredibly obvious, that if these people were to simply overthrow their government, these problems would go away very quickly, and they would gain back wealth.

For example, they said Gaddafi in Libya was actually the single richest man in the world. And you might ask yourself, how are you supposed to topple the richest man in the world? Well, they did it, and now his money means nothing, because he is dead.

Now you will notice in Libya, that a lot of people lost their lives in order to topple the Gaddafi regime, and if you look at most of Africa, you don't see people risking their lives in order to topple people like Mugabe.

And so, perhaps what we need... instead of donating money endlessly to Africa, and hoping that this is going to solve things... Perhaps instead, we need an African version of the Arab Spring.

OK. If you look at the United Nations, they had a goal to end all poverty by the year 2000. This obviously was not achieved.

I do think that providing free meals and things may help to remind Africans that there is something worth fighting for, but this is ultimately not going to end poverty.

Africa is obviously a continent with enormous natural resources, and if their people can simply stop accepting being slaves, and if they are willing to risk their lives for it, then many will die, but the vast majority may be able to achieve some kind of freedom.

So when I made this video the other day, saying that I am planning to go and volunteer for charity... I'm actually re-thinking this... lol

I think, perhaps, charity may be best served in the form of a few rich people like 50 Cent giving away incentives here and there, and also obviously by the work of people like Bill Gates, looking to wipe out disease.

But as for going there and looking to just help people individually, this may be a case of... a lot of effort, but with not much success.

So... you know... I only made this last video a few days ago, and I'm already starting to change my mind... So... lol... I guess it's true, what they say about the truth... Something which is true to you 5 minutes ago might not be true anymore..... Or basically.... It's easy to get carried away when you say stuff off the top of your head.

However.... I never actually said in the video, explicitly what I was planning to do as charity. So... charity could just mean not being such a freakin' asshole all the time, to other people in Western society. Who knows? Meh.
