Tired of people saying that Mario Monti´s government is not democratic! In Italy, the prime minister is NOT elected directly by a popular vote. Direct vote is how the President of the United States is elected but is not how the Italian Primer Minister is elected. The Italian Prime Minister is elected by a parliamentary majority at the president's proposal. Monti has a parliamentary majority and, therefore, his government is as legit as Berlusconi´s. Where’s the lack of democracy?

Direct vote is how the President of the United States is elected but is not how the Greek Primer Minister is elected. The Greek Prime Minister is elected by a parliamentary majority at the president's proposal. Papademos has a parliamentary majority and, therefore, his government is as legit as Papandreu´s. Where’s the lack of democracy?
