The Mark Halperin hysteria shows yet again that all forms of indecency are welcome in DC - as long as it's "civil" http://huff.to/jqf6LA This 2006 post made the point the best about "decency" (substantive) v. "civility" (trivial) (warning: the post has very strong profanity, though it's purposeful to make the key point): http://is.gd/z7pYqn - Bill Kristol & John Yoo (and Mark Halperin) can say the most wretched, evil things, as long as they do it in a soft, polite voice that comports with DC speech conventions and don't curse publicly - hence: "I believe the US should torture and kill hundreds of thousands in aggressive wars" is acceptable - "he acted like a dick" is a hanging offensive.
