Liverpool FC · @LFC

2nd Jun 2011 from Twitlonger

Thanks to all who gave feedback on @LFC Tweets! We've replied to some of your questions below:

Q: Who is tweeting? / Why do you sign your Tweets/ What does (JR/MO/PR) at end of tweet mean?

A: @LFC carries news from every area of LFC but it’s run by the Content Team in the Digital Media Department, contributors include journalists, TV producers etc.

We believe Social Media involves us getting to know you and you getting to know us. So we’ll often put our names or initials on the end of our Tweets so that you know which person is tweeting.

Some of the people who regularly contribute to @LFC include:

Paul Rogers, Head of Content (PR / Paul R) www.twitter.com/paulrogerslfc

Matt Owen, Community Manager (MO) www.twitter.com/LFC_Community

Jimmy Rice, Journalist (JR / Jimmy R) www.twitter.com/jimmyricewriter

James Carroll, Journalist (JC James C) www.twitter.com/james_carroll84

Steve Hunter, Journalist/Commentator (SH / Steve H) www.twitter.com/Shunter77

Paul Hassall, Journalist (PH Paul H)www.twitter.com/Paul_Hassall

Claire Rourke, Presenter (CR / Claire)

Q: You should tweet more live scores and during the game / You should not tweet live scores as you will spoil the game for those watching delayed coverage

A: We know some of you would like us to tweet more during the game, whereas others don’t want to be told the score as they’re watching it on delayed coverage. It’s difficult to please everyone!

What we will usually do is to post links back to www.liverpoolfc.tv where we can provide a much more comprehensive match experience, including full text commentary on the match. We also try to add some match photos to LFC Twitter, you can see some of them here: http://twitpic.com/photos/lfc and here: http://yfrog.com/user/LFC/profile

Q: You post too many / to few Retweets!

A: Ever since we started tweeting we’ve Retweeted our favourite fan tweets. LFC is nothing without it’s supporters and we think your contributions can make the difference between a good and a great twitter service. We also want to encourage you to follow each other and discuss the team with fellow fans as well as LFC.

We know that some of you think we RT too much and other too little. It’s not easy getting that balance right and sometimes we make mistakes. We do try to control the amount of tweets we send, but it’s not easy because there’s a lot going on in and around LFC!
Q: Why didn’t you reply / RT my tweet?

A: If you’re disappointed that we didn’t reply to or RT a tweet of yours please don’t be! We get hundreds of tweets each day and we can’t possibly reply or RT them all. Don’t stop however, we’re grateful for every Tweet we receive and one day you could get that reply / RT

Q: Why do you Link to paywall/ subscriber content?

A: Some of the video that we link to requires an LFC TV Online subscription to view: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/video/

We know not everyone has one but we want to let supporters know that there’s some great content and we hope you will choose to subscribe and watch it. If there's space we will often indicate that it's subscriber content.

We also link to lots of free content however and you can see some of that here: http://bit.ly/lLqVpZ or on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/liverpoolfc

Q: You should have a list of approved LFC Twitter accounts

A: We do! Check out our ‘More from LFC on Twitter’ list here:
http://twitter.com/#!/list/LFC/morefromlfc-8

Q: Why so many accounts? @LFC @LFCTV etc.

A: Our main account is @LFC but there’s lots of other things we think you may like to know about LFC, so there’s other accounts you may like to follow:

Not every story is mentioned on @LFC so you may want to follow www.twitter.com/LiverpoolFC an automated account Tweeting stories from the Official Website.

For information about technical issues around the LFC Website follow: www.twitter.com/LFC_Systems

For more detailed coverage of and interaction with the Club’s Official TV Channel follow www.twitter.com/LFCTV

Q: Can you get more players to come on to Twitter?

A: We love to read Tweets from players as much as you
do, but it’s a personal decision whether they use Twitter or not. We love Twitter but not everyone wants to take it up and we respect that decision.

Thanks to everyone who sent feedback. If you have other ideas, comments or questions which we've not answered you can tweet us using #LFCSM or email via Twitter@Liverpoolfc.tv

Thanks for following LFC and for making Twitter such an enjoyable experience for all the team.

Best wishes,

Matt (MO)
