Plan early! Earthday Hike with USGS geologist Pete Modreski! Friday, Apr. 22, Earth Day! Earth Day Geology/Nature Hike on South Table Mountain, 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., led by USGS geologist Pete Modreski; a late afternoon walk to the top of South Table Mountain, up on to "Castle Rock" overlooking Golden. Meet at 4:00 p.m. at the trailhead near the intersection of 19th St. and Belvedere St. in Golden (follow 19th St. east until it ends at the base of South Table Mountain). The hike follows a good but steep trail to the top, about 2 miles round trip and about 500 feet elevation gain.
