March of Dimes response to the cost of Makena. The FDA’s decision to approve Makena will help ensure that a consistent drug will be more widely available to prevent premature births. The March of Dimes plays no role in the pricing of products. We have discussed the price with the manufacturer, Ther-Rx, and have received their assurance that no medically eligible women will be denied the drug due to inability to pay. Financial assistance is available through the Makena Care Connection, an assistance program. The patient assistance program for Makena covers both uninsured and insured patients, and is based on income eligibility requirements. The Makena Care Connection is available by calling 1-800-847-3418. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST, Monday-Friday.
