Sometimes you wonder what it would be like to see the world in colour. Most of the time it is so dark in your mind you wonder what it feels like to see the light, is it yellow? Does it glow? Does it tingle when it touches the lenses on your eyes? But not everyone is privileged enough to be able to see.

Today, in the back of your mind, there is a spark. There is this boy, he is telling you about the world outside. You ask him what the sky looks like. When he tells you the sky is blue, you swear you can hear sorrow in his voice. Then he declares that he would show you the sky, and suddenly you find yourself running. Your arms are spread out like they are your wings and you are running as if you are chasing the wind. You open your eyes and there is a burst of red, yellow, blue. It is brilliant, like nothing you have ever seen before. It is a kaleidoscope, a rainbow, a meshwork, a canvas painted in brilliant splashes and subtle sheens. You steal a glance at your companion, and he is beautiful. A slight smile on his face distracts you as he takes your hand and you start to soar.

There are clouds above you, they are close enough for you to taste. You open your mouth and find that clouds are exactly what you expected them to be, soft, weightless, sweet. There is a shape in the clouds in front of you that you try to touch, but it starts to fly. The boy whispers something in your ear, something about a strange concept called love, something about staying here. But you are greedy, now you’ve seen the light, surely there is more to see. Surely there are shapes, textures, people, things, dreams left for you to see. So you loosen your grasp on his hand and turn your head upwards, following the shape in the clouds. And when you finally let go to look up, the sunlight blinds you again.
