NEVER SAY NEVER HONEST REVIEW:

Just got back from the justin bieber Never Say Never 3D movie.

One word to describe this movie: disappointing. Sure, i'd maybe enjoy it if i was a huge fan of his, but being a kind-of fan, i was bored to death.

Rating: 2.5 stars out of 5.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS/CRITICISM IN HERE. DON'T READ IF YOU ARE A HUGE FAN.

I don't want to ruin it for any of you, but the one thing that ruined this for me was the fact that they brought up Justin's "humble" backgrounds MAYBE 200 times in the whole 1 hour 40 minute movie. The first lines across the screen were "Justin is from a small town in Canada" and immediately i knew i would hate it. Trust me, i went into this with an open mind, and definitely did laugh a little and drool over his hair, but in general this theme was wayyy overexhausted. Whatever he did or said, they would find one way or another to link it back to being from Canada or being 15 when he was signed or having so many fans in such a short span of time. Sure, these are important things to include, but they shouldn't take up the entire movie. Also, they included SO many baby videos and pictures which were, although completely adorable, kinda off-putting. At one point in the movie, Justin is complaining about not getting a normal childhood and comparing himself to Michael Jackson in terms of possibly not getting a childhood and I couldn't help but to point out his hypocrisy- sure, you didn't get a childhood because you just sold it ALL to a movie producer! The difference between Justin and the Jonas Brothers is that while Justin sells everything about him- family life, countless baby pictures, etc, the jonas brothers only have 100 or so things from their childhood out there, and they still maintain a good family/personal life. I can't help but feel bad for Justin for this reason, but at the same time he did it to himself. The first half an our or so was just stories and videos and pictures from him as a baby and young boy. Viewers met his friends and he hung out in his hometown, which by the way, is NOT EVEN THAT SMALL.

Another thing that was disappointing was the musical numbers. There were probably 10-15 in the whole movie, 5-7 of which were from Madison Square Garden and the rest from his youtube channel and his concerts as a kid. The first couple from MSG were these random songs i'd never heard (Bigger, Never Let You Go, etc.) and I guess these were for promotional purposes, but i think they could have started it off with a bigger bang. he didn't sing Up (my FAVORITE) which was disappointing, but there were definitely more slow songs than fast. Miley was pretty good in Overboard. I just tweeted and went on facebook during the musical stuff cuz it was honestly extremely boring- not even the fans were singing or dancing along (except of course during Baby.)

I also hated Justin's personality throughout the movie. Before this, sure, i'd heard rumors about his attitude and ego, but i just let them go for the movie and decided to go in with an open mind. But let me tell you, my mind was made up about 20 minutes in. This kid clearly thinks he's God's greatest gift to the world, constantly looking in the mirror, taking off his shirt (HE HAD EIGHT SHIRTLESS SCENES. EIGHT), singing, acting all lovey-dovey to his fans and smartmouthing his mom, manager, nurse, crew, etc. There wasn't ONE part in the movie where i was like "aww, he's actually a really nice guy." So basically, if you are in LOVE with justin, this element is tolerable, but if you go into the movie with a so-so view on him, you're gonna find yourself where i was- wondering why you wasted your time to watch this stuckup kid tour the nation.

This movie followed the same guidelines as the BOBW concert movie and the Jonas 3D movie, but somehow was muchhhh more boring than either of those. They had about the same amount of concert stuff, i guess the other stuff is just what bored me about this one. It was either touring backstage, interviewing justin, seeing his hometown, seeing his family, watching baby movies or hearing him complain. No fun stuff like in the Jonas one where they shut down Times Square. It was VERY much a documentary, i feel like it could've easily been aired as an E! special. Just not anything different to make it a feature film, in my opinion. I laughed a couple times (mostly at the stupid insane Beliebers) but overall the movie was dry on humor.

Finally, the special effects and editing on this movie were wayy below par. First of all, they SPELLED PHILADELPHIA WRONG ON THE BIG SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS. It said something like "Day 27 of tour, Philedelphia, PA, 8 days to MSG" or something like that and they SPELLED THE CITY WRONG. You'd think after constantly editing and revising this film someone would have caught that, but apparently not. It was clearly not an accident because a minute later it said "Day 28, Philadelphia, PA, 7 days to MSG" or something like that and it was spelled right. Just sloppy editing in my opinion. Also, they hardly did anything with the fact that it was 3D. besides the fact that he reached out to the crowd maybe 5 times, the movie could have easily been 2D. The concert shots were sub-par and rarely ever got a good action shot of justin. There were wayy too many home videos and youtube videos and videos from when he was a kid, AKA crappy video quality and blurriness.

At the end, there was a team there from Justin's management who asked me and my friends questions about the movie. They said the answers were going DIRECTLY to justin and that they had to send an email to jbiebz before 1am so he could read it. They asked our honest opinions (not sure what those could do at this point anyways) and i said i liked the Jonas Brothers movie better. the girl there just laughed it off and said "don't think my boss is gonna be too happy to hear that one..." and i walked away laughing. It was true though. i liked the jonas one a MILLION times better and it's not just because i'm a fan of theirs. I feel like even if you didn't like Jonas you could enjoy the movie, whereas with bieber, if you weren't his fan to begin with, you weren't gonna like the movie. Basically, he's not gaining any more fans from this one.

If you read all of this, FOUR FOR YOU GLEN COCO. i know it's a novel. but i had to say it. overall, i'd recommend this movie if you're a bieber fan- it's not really THAT terrible. but if you're not a fan of his, i'd recommend you steer clear to avoid countless Canada references, childhood stories and complaints from Justin.
