Q10: Educate Ag! What I got from #agchat tonight: Farmers & ranchers consider consumers "misinformed" — "no-compromise activists" — "ignorant" — "uneducated" — who need their "hot button" issues identified so that they can become "educated. #Agchat wake up & stop hiding from the real problem! The real problem is that consumers ARE becoming more educated every day and that threatens your status quo. That's because they may not like what they see. Until you accept the FACT that "educated" consumers are exercising their rights to question how their food is produced & are demanding what common sense dictates for health, humane treatment and sustainability, then you will continue to be at odds with consumers.
Until you give up that consumers are ignorant - a stance that completely alienates you from them - there will not be constructive dialog, understanding or agreement
