Was banned many years ago from attending British Irish Association over doing interview with participant. Aggrieved that Kevin Boyle, a committee member didn't defend me as a fellow 'Abbey' man. He was present at my trial. What I did was no less than what a colleague did the same weekend. It was I who was blackballed. Thank God I got over my annoyance rightly or wrongly at Kevin. Met him with Michael Farrell of PD era in Deans @ Queen's in recent years. He came up and congratulated me on my contribution to journalism and highlighted the 'edge' to my line of questioning down the years. What was striking about Professor Boyle was his 'bearing.' He was hellish handsome and imposing. His passing reminds those of us interested in human rights of our own mortality. Ar lamh dheis go raibh a anam.
