for @cloudyjenn for Twitfic Exchange. this got a little bit out of hand as Cas!muse just didn't want to cooperate with me. but! in my mind I still owe you the whole "just general confusion and a happy ending" fic, so you can count on getting that one. hopefully soon *coughs*

---------------------

Sam knew something was on the moment Dean walked into the diner with an air of smugness, self-confidence and that smirk plastered on his face. Dean was up to something and although it was good to know it had nothing to do with Sam – Dean would never let Sam see him like this if it was about him – it was still quite disconcerting. Especially as that left Sam with absolutely no idea what all of it could be about.

The level of his confusion and uneasiness rose even more when, after Dean sat at their table, he found out that his brother was humming the tune that always was a clear tell-tale sign of a major prank. “What have you done this time?” he asked, frowning, deciding it’s better to cut the chase. Dean seemed to be in a pretty good mood, so maybe getting him to spill woudn’t be that hard.

Dean gave him his best smile. “Relax, Sammy” he said, pouring generous amount of ketchup over the burger Sam had ordered for him. “I’ve just helped a friend in need. Can’t I be happy about that?”

Sam so wasn’t buying this. “Helped?” He narrowed his eyes. Right now – apart from Bobby, and even Dean wasn’t stupid enough to mess up with Bobby – the only other person that could be named their friend was… “What have you done to Cas?” he hissed.

Dean had his trademark expression of absolute innocence on his face. “Me? Done to him? Man, who do you take me for?” he asked, his eyes full of hurt at the accusations. “He came to me, asking for a piece of advice, so I gave it to him. End of story.”

Sam sighed. He told Cas so many times not to go to Dean when he wanted to ask about something. This things just never ended up well. “Okay. What did he want to ask you about?” Maybe there was still time to do something. Save Cas somehow.

Dean smirked. “Oh, don’t get all tangled up because he came to me and not to you. He knew you wouldn’t be able to help him the way I could, so he chose the better man. Nothing personal there, Sammy.”

Sam didn’t even try to come up with a reply to that and simply glared at his brother. “What did you tell him to do? ” he growled.

Dean sighed. “You know I don’t kiss and tell, Sammy. Cas wanted some dating advice, so I gave it to him. Forgive me if the details are a little bit too personal for me to tell you.”

Sam nearly choked with his coffee. “Dating advice?” Dean shake his head, giving him some napkins. “Relax, Sammy. I know what I’m doing. With my advice, Cas’ll see that dating is overrated and it’ll be all over. We won’t have to worry about him getting all close and personal with some weirdo anymore.”

“That… that’s good, I think,” Sam managed to stammer. So Cas has finally decided to make his move. That was good – Sam was getting really tired of all the unresolved sexual tension. And Dean was in for a surprise, because - even though Sam knew Dean gave Cas the worst dating advice ever - Sam was pretty sure Cas was getting lucky tonight

Somehow Sam was also sure that Dean wouldn't mind.

And when later that evening he got a text from Dean, asking him to clear the room for the night, followed by a "Thank you for your help in seducing your brother, Samuel. The mission was a success" text from Cas, he knew he was right.
