#Sussexpolice appeal for witnesses following A27 collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a lorry driver was left with serious head injuries following a collision on the A27.

An articulated lorry and a Renault Clio, which had broken down on the side of the road, were in collision on the A27 westbound between Fontwell and Arundel yesterday (5 July) at around 4.50pm.

Following the collision the lorry hit the central crash barrier before coming to a halt on its side across both lanes of the westbound carriageway.

The 54-year-old lorry driver from Hampshire received serious head and arm injuries. His condition is described as serious, but not life-threatening. The 29-year-old male Clio driver from Southampton was left uninjured.

The road was closed from 4.50pm until 10.30pm when it was partially reopened while crash barrier repairs took place overnight.

Anyone who witnessed the incident it asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1398 of 5/7/10.
