#SussexPolice have been called to assist West Sussex Social Services at around 11.25am this morning (Friday, 2 July) who are executing a warrant under the Mental Health Act, as there are fears for a man's safety and welfare at an address in Wick Farm Road, Wick, Littlehampton.

Firearms officers have been deployed, after what is believed to be a firearm was seen inside the property. The road has been closed and immediate residents advised to stay in doors while officers attempt to help execute the warrant and help social services staff take the man into care.

Chief Inspector Jim Bartlett said: "Negotiators are at the scene to encourage the man to come out and receive the care he needs. There is nothing to suggest the man is a danger to the public. I would like to thank the local community for their understanding and patience during this time."
