Somewhere in a galaxy far, far, far away. A lone figure stands atop a platform, clad in a long overcoat. Smoke fills the air, wrapping itself around the figure like a warm embrace. There's a certain kind of hush that falls over the hundreds of beings who are gathered to watch, listen and absorb the figure. For what seems like forever but in reality is only a few seconds, there is nothing but an eerie silence. The excitement and anticipation is palpable. Almost as if were a living, breathing organism. Then: "Moon shine on the bayou". The voice soars from the figure high above the audience like a dove. Without warning the hundreds of observers are bewitched, bewildered and bothered. Seduced into a world unlike their own. A world with no class system, no prejudice (racism, ageism, sexism or homophobia), no fears or worries. Nothing but love and a connection that flows throughout every single person.

Out of the shadows the figure steps, the smoke seemingly parting for him. Still partially protected by the darkness, reminding us all that in the dark WE ARE ALL THE SAME "Cuz it's voodoo under your spell. Swap sings of a love bizarre. Snake bits, aligning stars. I'm in rapture, there is no cure." There is certainly no cure for all of those afflicted with the spell that one figure is weaving around everyone. The figure comes farther and farther into the light. His eyes draw you closer and closer into his universe. His face is illuminated finally and completely. Adam Lambert.

"No sanctuary from your allure cuz the voodoo that you do is all that you can do to make me into your fool. Cuz when you do the voodoo I'm just like a doll that the pinks keep pushing into. Everytime I try and break this trance I'm so afraid I'll miss my chance to be bewitched, bothered by you. I just gotta say I want your hex. I don't wanna live without your hex, I'm so obsessed with your sexiness." The crowd is definitely obsessed with Adam's sexiness. No sooner are they seduced, than suddenly the gears shift and they're led "Down A Rabbit Hole". The vibe is still undeniably sexy and carefree, only now there's an added dance beat to the proceedings. Adam compels us to come along with him on a journey, where things may not make a whole lot of sense but you're shaking your ass so hard that it doesn't even matter. Curiouser and curiouser.

Next he implores us to give in to the "Ring of Fire" and we happily oblige. On his knees, a literal ring of fire on the backdrop behind him, rising with every word he utters, we're amazed. "Indulgent rubbish" it was once called by someone less informed than the audience for whom he now sings to. We know better, though. "Brilliant, reinvention of a classic" is a more apt description as he proves again and again.

The mood shifts once again as Adam writhes, dances and sings until the audience is whipped into a "Fever". There's no time for playful stroking, licking, kissing, groping or otherwise interaction with the cutie-patootie bass player with the three names and even stranger hair (that will get tousled later, but I'm getting ahead of myself). Instead the sexual energy is expended towards the crowd as Adam makes sure we all know just what he means when sings "I wanna get you alone". It's an illusion, of course. But a pretty one nonetheless. Returning to where he made his grand entrance, the final syllables drip off of his tongue like honey.

We're only given a brief respite to cathch our breaths as the dancers act out our own pent up energy. They retreat after only a few minutes as the figure once again appears and sings the saddest song of the heartbroken. "Sleepwalker" speaks to all of us as we all know what it feels like to love someone so completely and deeply and not understand why "I can't turn this around, I keep running into walls that I can't break down. I said, I just wander around with my eyes wide shut because of you, I'm a sleepwalker. Walker. Walker. I'm a sleepwalker. Walker. Walker. Let me outta this dream". The experiences and memories wash over us like a tidal wave. After chasing the wrong people, sometimes you ask the person "Whattaya Want From Me". Adam knows what's that like and we trust him enough to relive that pain all over again. We trust him implicitly and he in turn trusts us enough to tell us "Thank you for loving me, cuz you're doing it perfectly". We do love you, Adam and what's more we trust and support you. If only romantic relationships were that easy, huh? Next we're "Soaked to the bone". Such a departure from the earlier sexy, dream-like atmosphere. Adam is taking on a dark journey of heartache. It's almost too much to bare.

But out of that pain and heart-wrenching despair, there's a light at the end of the tunnel. In the "Aftermath" we find that maybe all we need to do is be happy with ourselves, love ourselves and then and only then can we ever truly be happy with someone else (or ourselves). We take another break while we reflect on what we've just experienced. Adam knows that staying in the dumps for too long, though is futile (after all, it's "not that deep") and so he returns to lift our spirits with "Sure Fire Winners". An uplifting anthem if ever there was one, we're once again reminded to pump our fists in the air and rock the fuck out. "Strut" is next and Adam prances around the stage with his cane (I'll give you three guesses for what's that an extension of and the first two don't count) in fully knowing, campy, fun. We let our hair down and dare to feel sexy and secure enough to strut with him. After all, we're in Adam's world and the old rules no longer apply as to who's or what's sexy.

We all want to listen to "Music Again" and is it any wonder? Before Adam came along, a lot of us had given up on ever really connecting (on a deeper level than the superficial) with an artist again. Then he appeared as if a burst of fresh air in a stale industry overrun by Biebs, JoBros, Mileys, Swifts and their ilk. Someone who could blow the fucking roof with his incredible range, someone with amazing stage presence, someone who everyone raves about as being the nicest, sweetest, most down-to-earth individual. All that and sexy as hell to boot (homosexual? Pffft. Who cares? Rememeber sexy is sexy. I'd like to add sexy is sexy is sexy is sexy is sexy is sexy is sexy). Certain people who've been down this road before are beginning to become a bit verklempt because they know that the end is nigh. But not here yet, so in the interest of maintaining the fantasy for just a little while longer, they allow the music to flow through their minds, bodies, hearts and souls.

Adam wants us all to know to that "If I Had You life would be a party, it'd be ecstasy. If I had you that would be the only thing I'd ever need". Do we believe him? He's given us no reason not to. So as the laser lights flash and Adam introduces us to his band and dancers, we are secure in the knowledge that even if the party is ending, it's okay because he has us and we have him. He departs the stage. No one wants the night to be over quite yet, so we all scream and call out for him to come back and give us just a few more minutes of escape. Hearing our pleas, the band and him come back onto the stage and proceed to blow our minds with a familiar ditty. Mad World. Some people feel in love with him during his first rendition of this song on American Idol, some afterwards, some before, but no matter when their fandom of him started, he returns us full circle to a Mad World. It's a world that no one wants to go back out into, but we know that we must. Until the next time anyway...
