Am I the only person in this town to be disgusted at the disgraced former councillor Allen Branley who is lining up an attempt to stand for election again in the Westoe ward?
Between himself and his wife they have now been kicked off the council three times for failing to turn up for meetings. Mr. Branley now claims that he has resigned, when the truth of the matter is he was fired, days before his resignation letter was received.
Mr. Branley and the Independent Alliance cynically deceive the people of South Shields in this manner, and after such an appalling track record they should be debarred from standing for election again.
The people of Westoe do not deserve to be saddled with an absentee landlord again.
I ought to have added that "they" meant those who have been thrown off councils for non attendance - for the avoidance of doubt.
I really ought to set up a petition on the No, 10 website to see if the government will consider changing the rules.
